Come join us for an unforgettable Swimming and Trail Running adventure in beautiful Tuscany island, Italy!
Our Swimming and Running holiday in Giglio Island, or the Isola del Giglio in the Mediterranean is an authentic experience that combines thrilling Swimming and Trail Running training, local seafood and wine tastings, and swim sessions in stunning surroundings. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore the medieval Giglio Castello, walled fortress on a high point on the island, and indulge in healthy and delicious meals cooked for you by our local friends. Giglio is known for its colourful port town, pristine sea, rugged, unspoiled terrain, and relaxed island lifestyle.
Over 4 days, you’ll immerse yourself in the blue waters, meet friendly locals, learn about the local culture of island, and enjoy breathtaking views. We start our days off with invigorating swims and runs followed by lunch at a unique location. We then retire to our Villa to rest and shower, before exploring the beautiful surrounding and taking part in more local activity.
This retreat is perfect for anyone who wants to do something extra special for their body and mind. Our location, Giglio is about 18 kilometres (11 miles) from the closest mainland port at Porto Santo Stefano, on the Argentario peninsula. It’s part of the region of Tuscany. Porto Santo Stefano, is only 1.50 hours from Rome’s airport and Giglio, Elba, Capraia, and several sparsely populated or unpopulated islands make up the Tuscan Archipelago (Arcipelago Toscano) National Park, which also includes a protected marine sanctuary. Giglio’s 27 kilometres (about 17 miles) of coastline is mostly rocky, with a few beaches here and there. Its hilly, rocky interior is defined by drought-tolerant Mediterranean macchia, or scrub vegetation, including oleander and prickly pear cactus.
While a trip to Giglio may seem synonymous with a swim/run and relax island vacation, there are a number of active sports to pursue on the island, from low-key to strenuous; Diving, Snorkelling, Hiking, E-Bike and Boat rentals.
We’ll stay at Le Poste di Simplicio in Campese town-beach with Luisa, where we’ll hone our swimming and running skills . We’ll also visit the other 2 towns that Giglio has: Giglio Porto and Giglio Castello. Luisa’s Villa is right on the beach, perfect for a BBQ, swim, relax, prosecco, and local food. Surrounded by few restaurants and relax bars. We’ll transfer to Isola del Giglio right after landing.
Following the success of the Active Holiday in 2023 we are going to offer more dates in 2024 to enjoy the great training options that Italy has to offer.
