Push Limits, Build Skills, and Discover Umbria
Set in the beautiful Apennine mountains just outside Rome, this five-day triathlon retreat blends high-quality performance coaching with unforgettable Italian hospitality. Whether you’re preparing for your next race or simply looking to deepen your skills across swim, bike, and run, this experience is designed to meet you where you areโsupporting novice through moderate triathletes, with challenges available for advanced athletes.
Each day is built around technique, endurance, recovery, and shared community. Youโll train under expert coaches in one of Italyโs most scenic regions, and unwind with locally sourced meals, village dinners, and cultural excursions.
Suggested Flights
The retreat is based in Umbria, with pick-up and drop-off provided from Romeโs Fiumicino Airport. Airport transfer will be arranged for 1:00 pm on Monday, 20 October. We recommend booking departure flights for after 1:00 pm on Friday, 24 October to ensure full participation.
Itinerary
Day 1 โ
Arrivals into Rome by midday, followed by a group transfer to Umbria. On arrival, enjoy a light lunch, check-in, and a relaxed welcome with prosecco in a hilltop village with a 10th-century castle. In the afternoon, athletes will complete a swim assessment and an easy group ride focused on technique and familiarization. The day concludes with a welcome dinner and group briefing.
Day 2 โ
The morning begins with a swim technique session and a strength and mobility circuit designed for injury prevention and movement optimization. After lunch at a local restaurant, athletes will take on a three-hour endurance ride through Umbriaโs rolling terrain. The evening wraps with dinner at NordEst Pizzeria.
Day 3 โ
After breakfast, the group transfers to Lake Piediluco for an open water swim session focused on safety, sighting, drafting, and mass-start simulation. Following lunch at the lake, a brick session includes bike intervals and off-bike running with transitions. The afternoon features a group video review and feedback session, followed by an optional Italian cooking class with dinner.
Day 4 โ
A full mini-triathlon simulation takes place in the morning, featuring a swim (400โ800m), bike (20โ30km), and run (5โ8km) in race-like conditions. The workout emphasizes transitions, pacing, and nutrition strategies. After lunch, athletes participate in a guided recovery session, followed by a local cultural excursion including a walking tour of Rieti and a wine tasting with dinner.
Day 5 โ
The final morning includes a selection of practical skills workshops focused on specific areas of swim, bike, or run. After a group debrief and closing session, participants transfer back to Rome with lunch on the go. Optional sightseeing, light ride, or social run available depending on flight schedules.

Please feel free to bring your bike or we have road bike rentals available at โฌ300 for the week. You will need to bring pedals and a saddle (optional).

Required Fitness Level
This retreat is designed for adult triathletes of varying experience levels, from beginner to intermediate. Sessions are ability-based and adaptable, with coaching provided throughout. While the retreat is not competitive in nature, participants should be prepared for multi-hour training days and be comfortable swimming, cycling, and running in succession.
Coaching Team
The retreat is led by Paul De Garis, Head Coach and owner of TRI Fitness, and Swim Smooth Certified Coach of the Channel Islands. Supporting him is Cris Corazzini, a seasoned Italian cycling and adventure guide, who has led more than 250 tours across Europe and is certified through AIGAE and ACSI.
Payments
A โฌ400 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot.
Cancellation policy
For eligible Bike tours plus Triathlon, swimming, and Trail Running, choose between paying a cancellation fee or receiving a future trip credit/partial trip credit based on the chart below (fees are per guest):

*You can request a full refund up to 14 days after you book when you book 14 or more days before the final payment due date.
Full payment must be received 60 days prior to the event.
You may still cancel up to 40 days before the event. See Cancellation Table above.
If booking is made within 40 days of the event, the full balance is required at the time of booking.
